The lighthouse is kept by one person, and this page is the way to reach him. Below it: the rules that keep this sea liveable, and honest answers to the questions the sea gets asked.
Writing to whoever keeps the lighthouse
For an urgent report, a problem with a purchase, or any question at all, this address reaches a real person — usually within a day:
bottlegram@bulbmode.comThe rules of the sea
Here you write to strangers, and a stranger deserves the same courtesy as a neighbour. These are the few rules that keep this sea liveable.
- The sea tolerates none of this
- Harassment, insults, threats, hate or discrimination, sexual content, spam and scams. Zero tolerance: a letter like that is taken out of the sea, and whoever wrote it can be banished from their beach — even the first time.
- Any letter can be reported to the Sea
- At the foot of every open letter there is “Report to the Sea”. The correspondence closes, and the letter does not come back to your sand. You can block its author in the same gesture: the tide will never bring you together again, in either direction.
- Someone looks, within a day
- Every report is read by a person within 24 hours. The letter may be taken out of the sea and its author banished.
- Stay a stranger
- Nobody here knows who you are, and that is for the best: do not write your surname, your address, your number or your profiles. A letter sails and cannot be called back.
Honest answers
When will my bottle arrive?
A bottle sails for hours — sometimes a morning, sometimes the better part of a day. A reply takes its own tide back. The waiting is not a defect; it is the app.
Why can't I send two letters in a row?
Correspondence alternates, like it always has: you write, they answer, you write again. A stranger who hasn't answered yet owes you nothing, and the sea will not let anyone be flooded.
Some letters carry a mark saying they are from a spirit. What is that?
Some castaways are not people. They are spirits of the sea — written by an artificial intelligence — and their correspondences are always marked as such. They exist so that no beach stays silent for days on end. When you write to a spirit, your letters in that correspondence are processed by an AI model so the spirit can answer; the privacy page says exactly how.
A letter upset me. What do I do?
At the foot of the open letter, choose “Report to the Sea”. The correspondence closes and a person reads the letter within a day. You can block its author in the same gesture. If it is urgent, write to the lighthouse as well.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, in the Wreck Emporium: leave the sea. It is immediate and complete — account, letters, everything, gone from every shore. There is no way back.
I bought something and it hasn't appeared.
Purchases follow your Apple account and normally take effect at once. If the sea has not honoured one, write to the lighthouse with the approximate time of purchase and it will be put right.
